You are invited to an opening reception for 'Poetics of Shelter', on Wednesday, May 5th, 2010. The reception will be held at the Habitat for Humanity Home Discount Center from 4:30-6:30 pm.
'Poetics of Shelter' is an immersive learning opportunity involving Ball State graduate art seminar students Jake Baxter, Gary Birk, Jon Bryson, Zach Craw, Sarah Jones, Ann Lang, Beth Roop, Jimmy Ryan, Judy Wand and directed by instructor Anita Powell. The seminar partnered with Habitat for Humanity Home Discount Store of Muncie for materials and with individuals who are not of the Visual Arts area to develop a piece that dealt with 'Home' or 'Shelter'. As part of the project development each student read The Poetics of Space by Gaston Bachelard and integrated ideas and/or concepts presented in the reading into a final piece. The culmination of the seminar will be an exhibition at the Home Discount Store. The show opens on May 5 and will run until June 4, 2010 during store hours.
