Facing Depression in East Central Indiana: The Monologues

20 storytellers. 20 writers. 20 actors. One night to celebrate the stories of those who have had the courage to face depression.
Join us for the Facing Depression in East Central Indiana Monologues and Book Launch. Admission is FREE, and attendees will receive a copy of the book (donations are welcomed). The night will include theatrical readings from the book as well as a showing of a short documentary about how this project was put together.

Facing Depression in East Central Indiana is an affiliate of The Facing Project, a national organization that connects people through stories to strengthen communities. Founded in Muncie, Indiana, in 2012, The Facing Project has led three other projects in Muncie that debuted at Muncie Civic Theatre: Facing Poverty in Delaware County (2012), Facing Autism in Muncie (2013), and Facing Disabilities in East Central Indiana (2014).

Taking for their subjects the local people, flora, and landscapes, they developed a distinctive impressionistic style, uninfluenced by other art movements in Indiana. Poet Jacqueline Suskin discusses her book "Go Ahead and Like It"

Poet, writer and artist Jacqueline Suskin will discuss her latest book "Go Ahead and Like It" and her job as a poet at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 in AJ 225 as part of the School of Art's Visiting Artist guest lecture series.
Suskin is known for her ongoing work with a piece she calls Poem Store, where she composes on-demand poetry on a manual typewriter for customers who choose both a topic and a price in exchange for a unique verse. Poem Store has been Suskin's main occupation since 2009.
Suskin and her projects have been profiled in the New York Times T Magazine, the New York Times Style and Fashion section, the Los Angeles Times, The Atlantic, Time Out Los Angeles and elsewhere.Sep 19, 2015

Facing Cancer in East Central Indiana
15 stories of those who have faced Cancer in East Central Indiana, 15 writers who carried their stories, and 15 actors who will bring the stories to life on stage. Join The Facing Project, Little Red Door Cancer Services of East Central Indiana, and the Ingelhart Scholars from Ball State University as the community comes together to celebrate stories of survival.
This theatrical production is FREE and open to the public. All attendees will receive a copy of the book: "Facing Cancer in East Central Indiana."

It just transformed into today's reality TV shows with fat women still center stage. Eileen Rosensteel becomes five fat ladies from the 1880s to the 1940s before your eyes. Each woman has a unique viewpoint about living life fat. This show reminds us that no matter how big our differences are, we are all the same - freaks.
