MYP January ProLunch: Brushing Up Your Resume for the New Year

Cost: $15.00 (includes lunch) Muncie Young Professionals will be kicking off 2017 with their next ProLunch on Tuesday, January 17th. The focus of this ProLunch will be resumes and keeping them in tip-top shape.
Shelia Spisak (SPHR), Director of People Development for Muncie Power Products, will draw on her experience to share tips and tricks that will make each resume shine. Attendees will learn the top 3-5 resume mistakes among young professionals and the top 3-5 ways to make a resume shine. They will also walk away with an understanding of why it’s important to keep a resume up-to-date even when not job-seeking. Finally, attendees will gain an HR expert’s perspective about why a resume alone isn’t enough to land a new job or advance a career.
Space is limited for this ProLunch. Please RSVP by Tuesday, January 10th. The cost of this event is $15 and includes lunch. Hailed by The Huffington Post, Harlem World Magazine, and Soul Train as one of three oral history projects to watch, The Facing Project provides a model, tools, coaching, and a platform for communities to arm themselves with stories to begin crucial conversations on social justice issues—neighbor to neighbor, community to community—by discussing solutions and exploring healing through their own narratives.

- PARKING: Parking in lots near Worthen Arena costs $5 and is not included in your ticket. Parking in any yellow, green, or orange lots on campus after 5:00 PM is free and shuttle buses will be running.

In today’s world of constant communications, it can be easy for information to get lost in the shuffle. Kelly Shrock, President of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, will be providing attendees with practical tips to ensure that emails, voicemails, letters and more are clear, concise and action oriented. After this presentation, attendees should have an understanding of why writing and speaking clearly matters for young professionals who want to succeed in the workplace and advance their careers. They will also be exposed to practical ways to use business communication tools to move people to action and produce results. Finally, attendees will be given examples of how they can clean up their communications for maximum impact.
